Guitars Alive IV |
Guitars Alive IV was on April 8th, 2006 – as always, on a Saturday evening at Sudbury Secondary School’s Sheridan Auditorium.
The usual progression of talent began with the MacLeod Public School’s Junior and Intermediate Guitar Ensembles under the direction of Paul Dunn. Then Guitars Alive, for the first time, presented a community guitar ensemble not directed by one of its producers. The St. Charles College Guitar Ensemble was the invited guest at this point, under the direction of Carlo Pastre. Then it was the Sudbury Secondary School Junior and Senior Guitar Ensembles, directed by Gary DiSalle, followed by the Cambrian College Junior and Senior Guitar Ensembles and the full Ensemble all directed by Philip Candelaria. Laurentian Music program classical guitar soloist, Bruce Boyer finished off the first half. Bruce was a student of Philip Candelaria’s. After intermission, the wonderfully gifted and multi talented Colin Linden took the stage by storm, and blew the audience away with his guitar stylings and vocals. Another packed house and another standing ovation ensured that Guitars Alive would be back next year. |
