Guitars Alive III |
Guitars Alive III took place on April 9th, 2005 and while the concert’s program formula would remain the same, this was the last Guitars Alive concert that would rely solely on the ensembles and soloists working with producers Philip Candelaria, Paul Dunn and Gary DiSalle.
The MacLeod Junior and Intermediate Guitar Ensembles began the concert, followed by the Sudbury Secondary Intermediate and Senior groups, Laurentian University music program classical guitar soloist Jeremy Goguen and the first half finished with the Cambrian College Junior and Senior Guitar Ensembles. After intermission, it was the young blues phenom Jimmy Bowskill and his band. Jimmy was engaging and amazingly talented for one so young (still in his mid teens). He sang the blues, played guitar and piano and was well backed up by Al Cross on drums, Jerome Godboo, harmonica, and Alec Fraser on bass. The audience was captivated and gave Jimmy and his band a standing ovation. This time, with a packed house, there was no question that Guitars Alive had fully established itself as a lasting and important Sudbury tradition. |
